چکیده
Purpose: Contrast sensitivity, the ability to distinguish relative difference in luminance of an object from its surrounding or adjacent objects, is a useful measure visual function. In granular corneal dystrophy type 2 (GCD2), opacity stroma causes deterioration We compared contrast sensitivity GCD2 patients before and after phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) evaluate perioperative function these patients. Methods: This study included 22 eyes heterozygote patients. The acuity were measured PTK. was mesopic photopic background luminances, with glare (G) levels 0-2 (G0, G1, G2, respectively) spatial frequencies at 1.5, 3, 6, 12, 18 cycles per degree (cpd). Results: increased PTK 1.5 3 cpd conditions G0-2 (p < 0.05). At 6 cpd, condition G1 glare, However, there no change any level 12 PTK.Conclusions: patients, significantly vision which decreased due opacity, improved

Long-term Clinical Outcomes of Phototherapeutic Keratectomy in Corneas With Granular Corneal Dystrophy Type 2 Exacerbated After LASIK.
PURPOSE To investigate the long-term clinical outcomes and recurrence patterns of phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) in patients with granular corneal dystrophy type 2 (GCD2) exacerbated after LASIK. METHODS Fifty-one patients (76 eyes) with GCD2 exacerbated after LASIK who underwent PTK between January 2007 and February 2017 were included. Participants underwent ophthalmic examination, inclu...
متن کاملPhototherapeutic keratectomy for epithelial basement membrane dystrophy
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term efficacy of phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) in treating epithelial basement membrane dystrophy (EBMD). METHODS Preoperative and postoperative records were reviewed for 58 eyes of 51 patients with >3 months follow-up (range 3-170 months) treated for EBMD with PTK after failure of conservative medical treatment at Byers Eye Inst...

PURPOSE COMPARE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PHOTOTHERAPEUTIC KERATECTOMY (PTK) IN TREATMENT CORNEAL DYSTROPHIES VERSUS SUPERFICIAL CORNEAL SCARS: visual outcomes, recurrence rate and safety profile. METHODS PTK was performed in 51 eyes of 51 patients. Data regarding the indications for PTK, ablation depth, symptomatic relief, pre-and postoperative best spectacle-corrected visual acuity (BSCVA), sphe...
متن کاملExtremely varied phenotypes in granular corneal dystrophy type 2 heterozygotes
PURPOSE To investigate the phenotypic variability of patients bearing the heterozygous R124H mutation in the TGFBI (transforming growth factor-beta-induced) gene that causes granular corneal dystrophy type 2 (GCD2). METHODS We describe the phenotypic range of GCD2 heterozygotes for the common R124H mutation in TGFBI; seven with an extremely mild phenotype and six with an extremely severe phen...

PURPOSE To evaluate the visual outcomes, recurrence patterns, safety, and efficacy of excimer laser phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) in conjunction with mitomycin C (MMC) for corneal macular and granular diystrophies. METHODS The patients were divided into two groups. Group 1 included patients with macular corneal dystrophy (MCD) that caused superficial corneal plaque opacities, and Group 2...
